I play on Hyperspace Cannon with my RL people, but I am leveling a healer on Jung Ma for Arma's guild. You should join us there!

so I've been playing it for about a week now. bout 42 hrs in, pretty good game, at some points it felt like it was taking too long to do a few things. but the story has been quite good.
the only thing I'm really worried about is playing it 20 more times to get all the origins and everything else in the game. grrr

but totally recommend to anyone who likes RPGs

edit: playing it on my 360.

PC version is better, imo. Got all the origins and have completed it 5 times now. Still have to play my Dalish manelf, he's still sitting in Ostagar.

Duncan is a badass with an awesome beard.

Yep, I'm a BioWare fangirl. I would shout my loyalty from the top of a mountain were I not so lazy.

I bought Dragon Age for both the PC and the Xbox 360, so I could play it while Drew was playing. I hate having to share. I have now completed 2 play throughs, and I am started on my third.

My first was a female Elf mage, I chose no origin city. I was neither Dalish nor city, I was just a mage. She was named Annora, of course, and was a spirit healer. The Circle of Magi origin story was.. interesting. You learn much about the tone of the game in these first few minutes. You see First Enchanter Irving arguing with the Knight Commander of the Templars, and the tension between the Circle and Chantry is immediately evident. It is here that you're also introduced to the first Grey Warden, Duncan (voiced by Splinter).

Right off the bat you're given a choice, a tough choice. I don't want to give anything away, so suffice it to say I chose the option that left me feeling rather guilty. As the entire game is based around your becoming a Grey Warden, and as much is advertised in their trailers, I feel no qualms about revealing that part of the story. Duncan recruits you into the Grey Wardens, and he takes you out of the Circle tower and takes you to the ruins of Ostagar, a very large fortress.

You meet the king of Ferelden, an excitable young man named Cailan who is obsessed with the legends of the Grey Wardens. It is here that we learn of the coming Blight that threatens to consume Ferelden, and eventually the entire world. A Blight is a surge of Darkspawn (they look like zombies) led by an Archdemon, and its goal is to eradicate life. Grey Wardens exist to combat the Darkspawn threat and keep the world safe.

I won't go any further into the story, but I will say that I was mesmerized by the sheer amount of writing that went into this game. Along with the ridiculously massive amount of dialogue, there are also different books/notes/chapters that you pick up along your travels that delve further into the lore of Ferelden and its neighbouring countries. I listened to every person I could talk to, read every book I could, and fell in love with the game and its world.

Your companions are incredible, and it has some of the best voice work I've ever heard, and that says a lot considering the track record BioWare holds. The game was an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. You get attached to your team mates, the actors, writers and animators did a fantastic job of bringing them to life.

BioWare said from the start that it was a ruthless, almost barbaric world. A mature world for a mature gamer, and while there are warm fuzzy spots in the game (particularly with romances, I swear to god who ever wrote Alistair is my hero), there was for sure a lot of grief and anguish.

Dragon Age presented us with difficult choices that had varying results, some of them not all that great. That's part of the decision/consequence type game experience that BioWare has been putting out for years, but DA:O took it to a whole new level as far as I'm concerned. I never felt as conflicted with my choices in Mass Effect or KotOR as I did with this game. There were a lot of shades of grey, which is fitting, as they are the Grey Wardens after all. They bring evil into themselves to fight evil, sometimes that's the only way to ensure peace and security.

Ferelden is not a happy Teletubby world, nor is our own. And that is why this game is amazing and worth a buy.

I fully recommend the PC version for the toolset and modding capabilities, I also hear the console versions suffer from framerate issues.

Ugh, I know. Aion was quite a lot of fun, so I went ahead and bought that.. but it's not actually out yet. It'll keep me entertained for a couple months, casually. I really want to play TOR, though. Some of the people I know are unhappy with the micro-transaction business model, but BioWare's just making a good business decision. Micro-transactions are the wave of the future, and it's only natural for people to grab their corporate surfboards to ride it.

2009 has been a shitty year for games as a whole, there were a handful of good titles, and only one thing of interest (to me) coming out in the fall. Which is a BioWare game. I want 2010 to come, it's gonna be packed full of kick-ass titles.

Given that I've felt no urge to play the game, at all, these past few months, this new expansion's announcement has me feeling mighty conflicted.

First of all, I'm happy, happy that they're adding everything they should have fucking added already. Thanks for the alternative advancement 5 years later, Blizzard.

Next, I'm intrigued as to what the new races will be like, and what Deathwing's ultimate plan is. I'd also like to see how this guild leveling system works.

But mostly I'm just angry, so very angry. When I'd finally felt like I was free from WoW, they come back with things I wanted in the fucking game from the get-go. I know Drew and I will be weak, we'll buy the expansion, we'll level new characters, and we'll quit... But the fact that we'll be giving more money to Blizzard is what bothers me most.

Why isn't SW:TOR out yet?

P.S. Sapha, you need to get on AIM more.

My account has been inactive for a week. Heh.

Figured you'd eventually leave, hope you find a good guild and don't end up having to leave the server.

Sith, Drew and I decided that before it was even officially announced. The Jedi Order is old and stuffy, it keeps us from our true potential. Bask in the glory of the Dark Side, let its power flow through you.

I want to know what races they'll give us. I want to be a Zabrak or Bpfasshi.

Well, not really, but I won't say that one doesn't exist. Either way, it has been renounced and replaced by BioWare.

No, I remember that. There is an actual first person shooter, Not 3D of course but perhaps it was a graphic hack of star wars. I remember playing it on an emulator, I cant seem to find the game on AAs database and there are quite a few games to sift through.

There's a good deal of ME2 info out there now, and every bit of it makes me pee my pants with awesome. Interrupting dialogue, your Shepard carries over, better graphics, much better combat... I renounce my god and will worship only BioWare.

We got approved for a wolfdog puppy as well, so Spring 2010, we'll have one of those to play with Chewy.

And Iran... Iran so far away.

Saw the video the moment it was released, and then proceeded to stream it to my Xbox for everyone's viewing pleasure. Even the non-gamers in the living room party jizzed in their pants. Star Wars is a universal thing, and BioWare topped the last three movies in those few short minutes of incredible CG animation.

The more I read about the game, the more intrigued I get. I already vowed to drop WoW entirely when it was released, but they just keep reaffirming it.

So, my dad came into town for the week last week, and we ended up going to Tofino. I took some pictures and a couple videos, the area was absolutely gorgeous. Lots of Chewy pictures, enjoy!

Clicky.

Also, there are a couple more in her other album. We successfully completed puppy training, and there are some grad pics and a video of her chasing the puppies around for the last time.

…figuratively, of course.

Ok I have the fancypants resume. I have the cover letter. I pimp that shit out and make it all special and fancy for each and every job I apply too. I have the little outfit which I iron on the floor of my hovel on top of a cutting board and towel. Not that it matters, because I DON’T GET ANY CALLBACKS FROM YOU PEOPLE.

WHAT THE FUCK.

Listen, I KNOW times are tough but! You post the jobs, I send the resume, and I KNOW I’m hirable. I got hired at four, that’s right, 1234 baking jobs before the economy tanked, and I turned them all down. Cocky? Perhaps. I didn’t know the stupid economy would take a dump right when I was feeling confident about waiting for a job that was juuuuust right. So, now I’m paying the price. Fine. I accept that it was a dick move. And now I’m applying left and right for baking jobs, any baking jobs, shit, food prep jobs, whatever, piece of crap industrial sweatshop baking jobs, and I get nothing. WTF do you people want from me? Here, here’s my fucking resume. Here’s the real shit, not the kiss-ass garbage I spend hours laboring over on my 2nd hand laptop at the free wifi café.

OBJECTIVE

To bake the living shit out of shit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Take all the bile and outrage in this resume. The food I make is as sweet as these words are bitter. The cupcakes I make are cuter than a puppy’s ass. A whole tray of puppy’s asses. I was genetically engineered by the US government in a covert project called BakerBot4000-R. I don’t know what the 4000-R stands for but it’s as impressive as is sounds. I crank out bread like that crazy ass Mormon family on TLC cranks out babies. One time my boss walked in on me at work and I was sleeping but guess what? He couldn’t say SHIT cause I was baking at the SAME TIME. Anyway I wasn’t really sleeping, I was meditating on the next AWESOME savory scone that could make you forget how to speak your first language. One time I took a tray of scones out of the oven that were so golden and perfect it was like staring at the face of God, and maybe God was involved because the oven wasn’t even PLUGGED IN. Are you one of those bosses who needs to sit on a stool in the kitchen and tell me about your love life til 3 am? I will solve that shit like Dear Abby and Dr. Drew and make you feel good about being such a dumbass. Are you tired of stupid ass stoner bakers who can’t bake without being “baked?” I eat those fools for breakfast. Are you yourself a pothead? Hey, I don’t judge. Would you rather not even know I exist, and just want the baked goods to magically appear without having to deal with anyone’s needy, personal bullshit? Wow, that would sure be refreshing. Don’t question my methods. Just stick a muffin in your mouth and shut up. Also I sweat 100% pure vanilla extract and I poop marzipan which really cuts back on costs.

JOB HISTORY

Come-&-Get-It soup kitchen: At this job I baked bread so fucking perfect that the local hobos would eat it and instantly transform into one of the following: super hot firemen, solutions to global warming, or just piles of diamonds.

I had a dream about crossaints and this somehow resulted in a fold in space-time, resulting in their invention sometime in the middle ages.

Government contract as BakerBot4000-R: I can’t tell you much about this job or I would have to kill you (and I totally could.) I had to leave this job because, I was told, my rate of productivity was making the president “look bad” in comparison. However, it was the Bush administration so I refuse to take responsibility for this. A Pet Rock could make that guy look bad.

REFERENCES

God taught me the whole manna thing, but I’ve promised not to abuse my power.

I invented Martha Stewart and when I refused to give up my secret recipe for a cake that causes the consumer to attain a state of perfect bliss, sometimes referred to as nirvana, she went temporarily insane and ended up in jail.

Inspired by Steve Madonna. Luckily for you all, I am married and Steve and I shall never meet. Otherwise we would spawn monster beast children that would tear you all apart and render the employment system (aka “capitalism”) even more obsolete than it already is.
